Mr. Bean star Rowan Atkinson was granted a divorce from his wife of 24 years, Sunetra Atkinson, last month by the district judge of London’s Central Family Court. The pair married in 1990, has two children, and separated in 2014. The ex-couple was reportedly building another home together when they separated and the two have since been living apart in their own houses.
Sunetra cited Rowan’s “unreasonable behavior” in the minute-long divorce proceedings, after he left her for a younger woman.
Unreasonable behavior is common grounds for divorce, said Slater and Gordon’s head of family law, Andrew Newbury, though the case will not be final until Sunetra applies for a decree absolute six weeks after the issuing date of the decree nisi.
